Job description
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Lead Industrial Cleaner to manage cleaning operations for specialized facilities in **Sandton, Gauteng, ZA**. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within complex industrial environments. The Lead Industrial Cleaner will oversee a team of cleaning operatives, manage schedules, ensure proper use of equipment and chemicals, and maintain detailed records of cleaning activities. This position requires a hands-on approach, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of industrial cleaning techniques and safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct a team of industrial cleaning staff, providing training, guidance, and performance management. Develop and implement detailed cleaning schedules and procedures for various industrial areas, including production floors, warehouses, and high-traffic zones. Ensure adherence to all
health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Operate and maintain specialized cleaning equipment such as high-pressure washers, industrial vacuums, and floor scrubbers. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals, ensuring adequate stock levels and responsible usage. Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify cleaning needs and ensure quality standards are met. Troubleshoot and resolve any cleaning-related issues or emergencies promptly. Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, staff hours, supply usage, and safety compliance. Liaise with site managers and other stakeholders to coordinate cleaning efforts and address specific requirements. Promote a culture of safety and excellence within the cleaning team. Assist with onboarding and training new cleaning staff. Identify opportunities for process improvement in cleaning operations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Industrial Cleaner or in a similar supervisory role. Demonstrable knowledge of industrial cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in an industrial setting. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to train and motivate a team. Proficiency in using various industrial cleaning machines and tools. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Physical stamina to perform demanding cleaning tasks. A valid driver’s license may be required for transport to different sites. Experience in specialized cleaning (e.g., food processing plants, manufacturing facilities) is a significant advantage. Certification in industrial cleaning or safety is a plus. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and productive working environment at our client’s facility.
